Recently, I authored a blog titled The end of the world. This post tackled the speculations surrounding this topic and what the Bible actually says about the day of the second coming of Jesus.
Many may however not live to experience the events of the last days and the eventual, actual end of the world and so we live in a bubble. Doing the things that humans do, eating, sleeping, waking up, providing for our families and sleeping again.
One thing for certain is that while not everyone will live to see the end of the world, everyone will live to see the day they die. A series of deep thought lead me to a conclusion that the end of the world for any particular individual happens really, at death.
This bothered me because of all the reports of unnatural sudden deaths that are on the rise today. People are just dying. Young and old, guilty or innocent. From overnight floods, to fires, murders, starvation, plane crashes, road accidents, suicide, disease, vaccinations, the list is long. Nobody goes to bed knowing that the previous night's drops of rain would turn into a catastrophic flood that would claim the lives of an entire clan.
In other words, in the current world, You can not be certain of where tomorrow finds you. All you do is plan pray and hope. No one is too good or just to escape death. I know this because there are many times I thought to myself...they were this and that. why did they have to die! Just like no one knows the day of His coming, so is it that no one knows the day they die.
Today we YOLO! yes it really is true You only really live once in this world, so death actually is the end of the world for the person that dies today. They do not know a tomorrow. There never will be a tomorrow. All is left for them to face is eternity.
For a long time I was afraid of death and how I will die. Then I came to accept that death is inevitable. So I made a decision to live everyday in such a way that death does not scare me. I made a tough decision to be death ready. To live everyday as though it were my last.
"And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment" Hebrews 9:27
Now if you are a believer, you must know that God's word is true, and can not afford to doubt the reality of life after death, Eternity. There are numerous parts of scripture that depit this concept.
After death, you only have 2 options: Eternal life, or eternal condemnation.
Eternal life will be beautiful, while on the other hand eternal punishment, not so much.
"And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, ‘where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched." Mark 9:43-48
The reality of eternal condemnation is so dreadful, the Bible actually prescribes the unbearable pain of gorging out of eyes as a better experience to bearing the unbearable, unquenchable, hell fire.
The good news is that we are given a formula for partaking of the glorious eternal life:
"For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."John 3:16
When the Samaritan woman meet Jesus at the well, She had her own opinion regarding salvation and Worship based on her background and religious beliefs. But when she met Jesus, something changed everything she ever knew.
Jesus is the savior of the World. He died for the Jews and the Gentiles. It does not matter your religious inclination, this will not count when we finally answer to God at the end of life. What will really matter is what you did with His son Jesus.
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."John 14:6
'Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved”Acts 4:12
All you need to do is accept the gift of His Son Jesus, invite him in your life, follow Him, obey Him, develop His character, and Worship God in truth and Spirit. Then your life after death is secured and you do not have to fear death.
Accepting Jesus as your Lord and savior is the first step. Allow Him to come into your heart, and the Holy Spirit will guide you through of the rest of your walk with God.
You do not know what tomorrow holds, all you have is now. So YOLO, You Only Love Once.Today is the day to Love God with all your heart. You can only do it now, and here. How you are living is how you die.
God bless you and Perfect your focus.
Lots of Love,
Joanna
